RUNNING, RUNNING.

While I continue my search for a full-time gig, I've been working for 1% Productions as a "runner." You'd think with a title like that, I'd be skinnier, but alas... Essentially, when you put on a show, bands have what they call "riders" which list all of their requests as far as groceries, guitar parts, etc. go. As a runner, it's my job to fulfill the rider and shop for everything on their list. As well as run the little errands and do whatever else they may need. Sometimes this means multiple trips to hotels with smelly band boys so they can shower. Sometimes this means I sit on my computer with not much to do all day. Either way, it's good cash and it's enabled me to maintain a pretty decent lifestyle while technically still being unemployed.

I hate that word, really. I have an interview tomorrow - hopefully my unemployed status changes soon!

Anyway - I've been able to run for some of my favorite bands. Monday night was Beach House, tonight is Dr. Dog, Sunday is Now, Now. Among other notables like Silversun Pickups, Yeasayer, Youth Lagoon, Best Coast, etc etc. You get the idea. It's a pretty sweet setup considering these are shows I would've paid to go to anyway. Now I am being paid to go to them. Ideal.

Here's a photo I snapped on my iPhone of Beach House from the other night! 'Twas a great show.

Check out the 1% website for a list of all of the great shows coming to Omaha. And then buy tickets. And go to them. For example - El Ten Eleven play on Sunday at The Waiting Room. Go, because I cannot.

Ciao!

-k.
