FULL WEEK WRAP UP.

This week seemed to be busier than it actually was and, clearly, I didn't manage to take the time to blog. Here's a wrap up of the past week in one long post.

Last weekend - Andy, Suz, and Carty were back for the weekend, so Drew and I went out to Oakland to hang for the majority of Saturday. This was Drew's first time meeting the entire fam, sans Greg who's in Pittsburgh. He was a big hit with my nephews and niece and ended up spending maybe a tad bit longer than he expected being attacked from all sides by three energetic kiddos in the backyard.

We went to Cale's soccer game in Carson and followed it up with a delicious steak and potato dinner at home. It was so nice to see the fam and catch up with everyone. It's times like that, when we're all together, that I really notice Greg's absence. Hopefully he is able to come home for Christmas!

Saturday night was Tara's birthday celebration and we ended up at our usual digs in Benson. Sunday was spent in recovery mode on Drew and Tara's front porch with my girlfriend, Madeline. We were delivered sandwiches and coffee, compliments of Drew. Sunday nights are for Dexter and Homeland watching, of course.

Monday, Erin and Pat hosted a game night. For anyone who has ever played Cards Against Humanity, you know the hilarity that can ensue. For a group of demented friends like us, it's the ideal fit. Favorite cards of the night included "dick fingers" and "a stray pube" among others. You get the idea.

Tuesday, I was a runner for All Time Low for half of the day. My 2009 self would have been freaking out. But... alas, turns out I have grown up a bit in the past three years. That music doesn't do anything for me now, but it's fun to reminisce. I didn't end up staying for the show because rollerblading with my boyfriend sounded like more fun than dodging the awkward glances of people that I've met before who clearly couldn't remember how/why they recognized me.

Wednesday, I finally got around to spray painting the table tray I bought off of Craigslist last week for a mere $10. I used a dark grey/brown spray paint and I'm thrilled with the end result. It looks great in its new home in our bathroom!

Wednesday night, I made a delicious dinner for Drew before we went to the Good Old War show. Peep the recipe I used here. Thanks to my mom, I've been missing out on mushrooms for the majority of my life. I figured that since she didn't like them, I wouldn't. How crazy is it that I have tastebuds of my own?? Anyway - I forgot to take a photo, so here's the photo shown with the recipe.

After dinner, we headed to Sokol to see Good Old War! They were great. Side note: When did Needtobreathe become such a country band? Their show at People's a few years ago was one of my favorites - it was such an intimate show - he played acoustically to the twenty or so people in the venue. This show, was not that. We ended up leaving after five songs because we didn't see an end to the countryness.

Yesterday, I got to run for The Wallflowers. Yes, that's correct. The Wallflowers. One, Two, Three Marlenas. One Headlight. That band. Jakob Dylan said "hello" to me as he put his luggage in my backseat. (No pun intended.) I smiled while I wept tears of joy on the inside. I got to have some good conversations with Stuart Mathis and Jack Irons. Jack Irons, of RHCP, Pearl Jam, among other bands. All in all, it was a good show, even though they didn't play my favorite song "Bleeders."

I managed to score four free tickets to the Lynne Koplitz comedy show at The Funny Bone tonight, so that's where I'll be. Tomorrow is thrifting with Otte for her bedroom redesign followed by a costume party for Halloween. I think Maddie and I are going as conjoined twins. Pictures to follow. Working the Minus the Bear show on Sunday. Oh, happy day.

Sorry for the giant post.

-k.
