There's something to be said about dropping everything and getting out of the city for a minute. Especially if you're in need of a mental vacation. Especially if it's with twenty of your closest friends.
We've been planning this trip for weeks - a belated celebration for Lee's birthday. Branched Oak was the destination. Although I'd never heard of the place, this gem is just a hop, skip and a jump north of Lincoln.
Maddie and I made an ice run and ended up stopping by a garage sale where we picked up our friend John. He was our camp counselor. I'll leave the decided name of our camp out of this blog post. Camp rules.
We ate, we drank, we danced, we sloshballed, we swam, we jet-skied, we frisbeed, we had 90's-songs singalongs, we did it all.
Kyle, Erin and I headed to a sunflower field nearby - trudged through a lot of weeds ridden with ticks to get a few shots of these beauts.
After about seventy shots of sunflowers - you come to a point where you realize you have about sixty three too many shots of sunflowers, and you leave.
It was such a beautiful mini vacation. There are talks of making it an annual trip, I hope it happens.
I'm so glad Bob wasn't there.
-k.
Great photos. Miss it already.
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming this is Matt. Thank you! And yes - me, too. Although sleeping in my bed will feel quite nice.
